I'm using the free version of iThemes security for my wordpress site. Twice now, in the last week, my site (all file folders), has completely, suddenly vanished from my server. Isn't this something that iThemes security should prevent? Would it help to upgrade to iThemes Pro? I have several sites hosted by Bluehost, and this one in particular is the only one (knock on wood), that has been having this problem. Hi ariane98 Yes, there is a way to make the front page different than the rest of the pages. That often happens in websites and WordPress allows for it. First, if you haven't done so yet, you should create a child theme for your site.If you edit the theme files (header.php) and the theme is updated, it will over-write your hard work. Child themes avoid that. See: https://codex.wordpress.org/Child_Themes Second, copy your new 'header.php' file into your child theme folder.That makes your changes live without being over-written during an update.(You'll sleep better at night. ;-) ) Third, add code to your header.php file in the child theme so the header in the front page is different than the rest of the pages. Hi guys, I've just started looking after a WordPress site for a client, and if I try any of the things in the title of this thread, I get the following error:'An unexpected error occurred. Something may be wrong with WordPress.org or this server’s configuration.' On the WordPress Dashboard I'm getting the following error in the news section:'WP HTTP Error: 10060: A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond.' I had a series of pages that are parameterized model "sidebar", and I chose a custom sidebar "sidebar1" contains a menu, which appeared only to those pages in question.the second is the main sidebar sidebar that is used for the part blog so I can not use it.i've put the 2.7.6 update virtue, the sidebar1 no longer exists. so the page doenst appears the menu custom on the right, and ni option i couldnt find "sidebar1", neither in widget.how to restore the sidebar, on the understanding that no longer exists in the widget. only the main sidebar appears?thank you That is odd. I haven't experienced this issue on my test site. if it is totally gone and you don't have a backup to retu to, then your best bet might be to just make a new sidebar and place that menu back into it. Then you'll also have to reassign the sidebar to the pages you want it to show up on. New sidebars are made in Appearance> theme Options> Misc Settings. After you make the new sidebar, you'll assign widgets to it as usual in Appearance> widgets. When the theme developer sees this, he may have more information as to why this happened. Sorry you experienced this issue. It's possible you update the theme options and the server ran out of memory while running the process and the sidebar wasn't saved correctly. Best thing to check is to go to theme options > misc settings and make sure you have added an extra sidebar.
