Fabio Fiss on "How to create simple log-in page with validation?"

i was looking around google but could not find a straight forward answer

i was told to use wp_login_form() but its very confusing

i tried using HTML <form> and posting but cant get it to redirect.

i need a log in form on my landing page with vailidation(must be either e_mail or and id beginning with E#######) and password.

if successful i need it to send that useame information to a signed in page that will take the user name and put it in a query select statement
