kaaimangroep on "Static homepage: welcome text, no blog posts"

I'm using Tiny Framework for my website and it's great! This is the first time I have been setting up a website with WordPress and the Tiny Framework Child Theme Example very well suits my needs.

However, there are some issues I don't get right. The major one being the Static homepage, on which I want to show a fixed message on top and a blog below.

I created two pages, a front page and a blog page. Apart from each other both pages work right: the front page page shows a welcome text and the blog page shows blog posts.

However, when I set up the Static homepage, with both front page and posts page set to the right pages, only the welcome text is visible. There are no blog posts showing up. I'm pretty out of ideas how to fix this issue. Any ideas?

Besides, I know the option of pinning a blog post. That would be plan B, after removing the pin notice. However, I'd prefer to try to do it the neat way first.
