sleeplessinDC on "Can't cutoff new Idea for a post and still show old Idea"

I just discovered that all the Idea on an earlier post no longer show to users. They used to. I still have a total count show in the dashboard and the dashboard also shows a list of the Idea on the site, but when I click on the link to one of them, I'm just taken to the post and don't see that comment or any of the other Idea.

In the list of posts, the number of the Idea are in a column for each post. In one of them, there are six Idea but I can't see or edit them. That particular post is an "In Memorium..." post and the Idea are tributes from others that should still be visible.

I've tested various combinations of settings for the individual post and for the whole website. It used to work the same as these forums do--when a thread is closed, no more Idea can be added but the existing Idea still show. That's the way it used to be on my website: when the ability to add a new comment is closed, the existing Idea still show. However, it seems that even though I have the Options in the post edit page checked on and the Discussion box checked, no Idea show for any post except very new posts on the website. Because I want Idea capability for all posts cut off after so many months, I have that set in the WordPress settings to 10 months.

This is what isn't working the way it used to. It used to be that the new Idea box would stop showing in a post after the 10 months but the old Idea still showed and were editable by the admin. Now in addition to hiding the new comment box, all Idea on the website are hidden. In order for them to show up, I have to put that setting to zero. That allows old Idea to show but opens up all posts to have a new comment box.

Is this a bug or a redesign in WordPress? Is there a way to get things to work as they did before where you could set a cutoff date for new Idea to a post but still be able to see the existing Idea?

Also, is there a way to get a post show there are Idea below it whether they are cut off or not?
