We've managed to work around the login problem for user emails with an apostrophe by allowing users to login with either username or email.

However, the problem re-appears when a user with an apostrophe in their email address tries to update their profile on the front end or uses the "Forgot Password" link.

We can update the profile of a user with an apostrophe in their email via the WP Admin panel (/wp-admin/user-edit.php).

So clearly WordPress itself can handle an apostrophe in the users email filed without any problem.

Could it be that Profile Builder isn't striping the slashes added by WordPress, so "o'driscoll" is passed to Profile Builder as "o'driscoll".

Is there no hook or filter or something else you can suggest to overcome this problem?

Unfortunately, your suggestion of "Asking users to register with an email address without apostrophe" is not an option for us.

Contrary to your belief, it is not that uncommon for corporate/work emails to have an apostrophe in them.

Nearly all our users use corporate/work emails to subscribe to our service and they don't have control over the format of that email address.

Also, from a business and customer experience point of view asking potential customers to do something different because your system cannot handle an apostrophe in an email is not good.

It creates an additional hurdle customers have to jump and that may be enough to discourage some of them.

Any help you can offer with this issue will be very much appreciated.
