Amazon Lightsail/Ubuntu Permission Error Perhaps?

We host our site on an Amazon Lightsail instance, it has an image upload feature that works fantastic. Users are able to upload images to the server just fine. When we use the exact same script to "edit" the images (rotate, crop, etc) our error logs are showing permission issues and the images aren't saving.

Willing to pay for someone to diagnose and walk me through the permission repair (if that's the issue).
