Sorry to wirte this:
When updating to WP 4.5, I found a problem with a plugin, so I had to retu to 4.4.2. And I leaed, that Updraft makes not a complete backup. I had to downgade manually!
There was no information about this!
I leaed also, that Updraft works, bit the window asking how I want to make the backup is noch readable! With WP 4.4.2 it was readable. An update ist necessary to work properly with WP 4.5.

Backing up WordPress core is redundant, since you can always obtain a copy of it from wordpress.org - https://wordpress.org/download/release-archive/ . You restore just by unzipping it + uploading into your webspace.

Nevertheless, since some users want the convenience of a restore from within UpdraftPlus, that's why the "What to backup" section of the settings page states that WP core isn't backed up, but points to the add-on which includes this feature.

The above directories are everything, except for WordPress core itself which you can download afresh from WordPress.org. See also the "More Files" add-on from our shop.

Conceing this, please can you post a screenshot? There doesn't appear to be any such general issue with WP 4.5 - no other reports, and I can't reproduce it. So, it seems to be an issue specific to your site; perhaps a clash with something else. With a screenshot I might be able to say something more useful.
