Andrew Nevins on "Thumbnails In Gallery Cut Off"

ساخت وبلاگ

How do I make sure the thumbnails in my gallery are not cut off? When clicked, they show the full image...but some are cut off when thumbnail size. Can this be fixed?

What do you mean by cut off?

If you go to the page I linked to, you will see. For example, in pictures 2 and 4, the dog's ears are cut off.

It looks like you need to use the same image ratios as the non-cut-off images.

Then when you click on the image to view it larger, they will all have to be the same as well? So basically, I have to make sure all the images are the same size when putting it into the gallery?

No, the same image ratios is different from the image size. I.e. a 1750px by 1750px image has an image ratio of 1:1.

Oh ok...so I have to make sure they all have the same image ratio? If one has an image ratio of 1:1 and another has a different ratio, then it could get cut off?

Yes, look at the images that don't get cut off and try to base all of your images from that ratio.

The images that don't get cut off for you are the more rectangular ratio'd ones.

WordPress' thumbnailing functionality can either resize the image or crop the image. A reason why you wouldn't want to resize a tall and thin image is because the image would have to be very small to fit inside of a square thumbnail. So it looks like your theme has gone with the cropping option instead.

Cropping means cutting off an image when the image ratio is larger than the thumbnail.
