deliciousdeli on "Function php and directory issues"

OK This one has stumped me I thought I'd updated the function file and I've even gone so far as to remove the offending theme. However I've no luck in getting back into the admin of WordPress.

The error I am getting is below:

Waing: require(/home2/deliciousdeli/public_html/wp-includes/functions.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home2/deliciousdeli/public_html/wp-settings.php on line 81

Fatal error: require(): Failed opening required '/home2/deliciousdeli/public_html/wp-includes/functions.php' (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home2/deliciousdeli/public_html/wp-settings.php on line 81

Are you sure you're editing the right file? The error points to a core WordPress file (inside the wp-includes folder). You shouldn't be editing that file.

I was using a child theme on the genesis platform. I've since removed those. I wasn't editing any other files. Any suggestion as to resolving the matter?

Can you look at your /wp-includes/ directory and check if there's a functions.php file there?

There doesn't appear to be. I check all folders

Try replacing the core WordPress files. Pay attention to the bits in bold:

Try downloading WordPress again and delete then replace your copies of everything except the wp-config.php file and the /wp-content/ directory with fresh copies from the download. This will effectively replace all of your core files without damaging your content and settings. Some uploaders tend to be unreliable when overwriting files, so don't forget to delete the original files before replacing them.

Ok So I am downloading WordPress again and then uploading everything via c panel to the /wp-content/ directory except the wp-config.php file

I think the issues was a case of unreliable overwriting of files initially
