I just noticed that my 150 px images are being scaled down to 38 px or even smaller. The only plugin I used that has anything to do with images is ewww, but I don't see any options related to scaling. Any ideas?

nope, it isn't. The only time EWWW resizes an image is on the full-size original AND only if you have enabled the Advanced resizing options.
