rbrooks131 on "After updating to 4.5.1 site slow to respond"

I have an in-house development server running Ubuntu 14 and NGinx 1.8

When I setup the server I used WP-CLI to install the latest version of WordPress at the time, which was 4.3 I was able to upgrade to minor versions as well as 4.4 with no problems. When 4.5 was released I could not get the server to update no matter what. I tried from the dashboard, I tried from WP-CLI, I tried pulling 4.5 down and manually copying it into the folder. I had deactivated all my plugins too as well as all themes but twentysixteen.

I finally found that I needed to add fastcgi_read_timeout 300s; to my conf file for the site, then I was able to update to 4.5.1 The site is now running extremely slow. Google Chrome Inspector is showing 2.0 minute load times. I was also able to update the four plugins that needed updates through the dashboard, it took forever but they updated.

I'm confused as to why my previously speedy server now has tued into a turtle.

Any ideas?
