Fortunately anyone can use WordPress, so it wouldn't make sense to have a cron job viewer be a built-in feature, but I was doing my first real cron work this week, and waited an hour to see if everything happened naturally.

I followed the Codex to the letter, so I even had the activation/deactivation going smoothly, did the examples right and just hooked into it with my function (go and grab a feed of info from JSON and use it to create new posts if they don't already exist by that title).

Come to find out, it didn't fire. I screwed up the JSON notation (how would you say that? It's redundant =)

Anyway, I am not a patient man, so I went looking for something like this plug-in to make sure it was at least on the server's mind, and that I did that part correctly.

It noticed it, found it by name, told me the next time it would naturally fire, and instead of having to edit it to force it to start a new hourly schedule (which would have been cool anyway), it kept the schedule but let me fire it once after I fixed the feed. Boom! New posts.

So it's perfectly functional, and slick and easy to use even if you're new to the whole mix. Makes sense why this is a core developer. They know how to keep with the spirit of everything WP.
