Have a player list page, when you click on a players name it opens a link that shows Page not found

Let's try the following:
1) Disable all your plugins
2) Activate Rookie or Twenty Sixteen
3) Set the permalinks back to default (settings > permalinks)

If I am using a set theme will this ruin the website format? When I switch the theme back after this will it restore anything that moved when I switched themes?
