Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING, expecting T_CONSTANT_ENCAPSED_STRING or '(' wp-content/plugins/facebook-events-importer/assets/includes/fb_import_action.php on line 6

Pro version will activate but then it brings up the box saying I should go pro

Can you please advise on how to fix this

This is an issue with your PHP version not being 5.4 or greater. update your php version and that will solve the issue!

Hi - I am also experiencing this issue (the plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error) and have upgraded to PhP 5.4 as well as re-installed the plugin.

Do I need to refresh something somewhere?

Thank you. Had Fatal error on a multisite network installation, irrespective of being set in either Network activate or at the independent site level. Updated PHP to 5.6 and works like a charm. Just the fix I needed before delving into theme compatibility code. **thumbs up**

Glad you found the fix. There is a code in place that is suppose to notify you on installation but it does not fire for everyone. Glad you found the answer here.
