girlieworks on "Admin access lockout"

I'm hoping someone can help with this.

Somebody out there is trying to hack into my WordPress admin and I'm locked out for seven hours!

Is there a way to bypass the lockout?

Any suggestions for better protecting my site from the hacker?

@timshape: It sounds like you're using some type of security plugin, in which case, we'd need to know which plugin that is in order to have a shot at figuring out whether there's a way to get around the lockout.

Thanks girlieworks, I'm using the Limit Login Attempts plugin...seems like it works pretty well!

Still have to wait for four hours...and counting.

@timshape: If you can access your server using FTP (or a File Manager provided by your host), you could rename the /wp-content/plugins/wp-limit-login-attempts folder to something like /wp-content/plugins/wp-limit-login-attempts.DISABLE instead, which should force-deactivate the plugin.

If that doesn't work, you may have to actually modify the database record directly (per this article I found with a Google search -- though note that it's two years old now, so YMMV).
