Jan Dembowski on "Tried to change url and now dashboard and website appear as plain text"

I'm a WordPress Newbie and last night I tried to change my url via my wp-admin dashboard (Setting > General).

I messed up and didn't have access to my wp account or dashboard for a while, but I figured out a way to fix that and now I have access to it again.

However, my website and dashboard still appear in plain text. White background and blue links. My website is http://www.takemewithher.com/.

I have read a few forums and tried clearing my cache, but that didn't work.

You need to install Better Search and Replace and replace all the instances of www.angeliquejanssen.com with www.takemewithher.com.

Put www.angeliquejanssen.com in the Search for field and put www.takemewithher.com in Replace with field. Select all tables, uncheck Run as dry run and click on Run Search/Replace.

This should fix the layout of your website.

@angeleejanssen, your site is looking for the stylesheet at the old address. If you can't come right with Bryan's suggestion, try looking at the instruction on how to change the site URL in the Codex. You should be able to fix your problem by working through it step by step.

Hi Bryan & Rob! I tried doing both but unfortunately none of them worked. I might be doing something wrong, but I am willing to trust one of you and pm you my login info? Maybe you guys could help me fix it.

The only problem I am still having is that my website and dashboard are in plain text.
I checked General > Settings and the WordPress URL + Site URL are both back to http://www.takemewithher.com

Let me know if you think of any other solutions.

What happens when you use the better search and replace plugin?

I followed your steps and then reloaded my dashboard page and website and they both look the same (plain text).

You can use Cloud Up but from what I can see, you don't need it! Looks like your site is back up and running. How did you fix it in the end?

Hi! I wasn't able to fix it myself, but I got an email from the team at [ redacted ] and they were able to help me fix it in just a few hours. It cost me a little, but I am just have appy that my blog is back up and running well. Definitely recommend them to anyone who is having problems with their site!

Please do not recommend that site or company to anyone. Without going into a great deal of explanation, that company has eaed a lifetime ban in these forums.

I'm glad you got your problem sorted out. But any reference to that company will be deleted when found.
