I should add.
The plugin has been working perfectly for over a year.

Thank you

Hi Flexer,

If you use Stock Ticker for 'Crown Capital' right hand side widget, I see data loaded (no error message for me). Please check screenshot https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B8BerXvnwoN3VHNtYXVYN0I0a1E

Hi,

Thank you for the reply. It seems to be back.

Thing is - I did an update for your plugin, and a couple of others, and then noticed it. Rolled back the update and after a while it was back. I will do the updates again and let you know if the error comes back. Might be a conflict with another plugin or perhaps just a coincidence, and it had nothing to do with the update.

Thanks again for the great plugin
Daveed

New version load data through AJAX and should work with caching.
If you get same error, try to increase fetch time from 2 to 4 seconds.
Cheers

Hi,

I updated the plugin and at 3:00PM EST the error came back.
I did what you suggested as well as cleared cache and it did not help.

I reverted to the previous version of the plugin and that did not work either.

Any ideas?
Thank you in advance.

Can you enable debugging and look for any error from stock ticker in error_log or wp-content/debug.log

Try to access http://crowncapital.ca/investor-relations/overview/?stockticker_purge_cache=1 with disabled Total Cache.

Problem is that plugin from your server can't retrieve data from Google because of connection timeout (increased Fetch Timeout in plugin settings can resolve this), or other HTTP connection issues.

Hope you'll find some descriptive error in error logs and we resolve problem.

Aleksandar

Hi,

No, I cannot find any error to do with Stock Ticker in the error log.
I am seeing this
===
Timestamp: 2016-06-01 5:43:10 PM
Error: Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at wss://public-api.wordpress.com/pinghub/wpcom/me/newest-note-data.

Can it be anything?

Hello,

At 6:50PM EST the plugin started working again on my dev version of site where plugin was updated. I updated the plugin on live version of the site and it also began working.

The above error was not there. Perhaps it has something to do with the above error?

Thanks
Daveed

Hi again,

I can see that still missing one asset that should be generated in uploads directory.

Can you please try with development version of plugin https://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/stock-ticker.zip and after you re-save plugin settings tell me did you get any error notification in back-end (like "Failed to write custom JS/CSS file..."?

Thank you,
Aleksandar

Hi,

I have a dev version of the site I can work on.

To confirm, did you want me to delete the folder stock-ticker in the plugin folder and replace it with this? Should I first disable the plugin?

Daveed

Great. You can simply overwrite files with new package. No need to disable plugin or delete old directory.

I hope that both, live and dev sites are on same server and same account (because of server settings)?

Cheers

Hi,
Done, no error.

Stock Ticker Settings

Same server, both staging and live (still on version 0.2 are working)

Daveed

Hello,

As of 4:30 EST both the dev (Plugin version: 0.2.0.1) and live (Plugin version: 0.2) of the site have stopped displaying the data.

Firefox Error console is again reporting

Hi

Just noticed something. It's looking for this file http://crowncapital.ca/wp-content/uploads/stock-ticker-custom.css?ver=0.2.0 .

I re-saved the setting, this file is back, the plugin is functioning.

What do you think?

Daveed

Great, so now all works as expected?

Btw, that error in Firefox console have nothing to do with Stock Ticker.

When you see 'Unfortunately...' message, right click on that message and inspect element. You'll see in HTML comment error message retued from server. It will probably say that in 2000 ms wecould not fetch data. If that is case, please increase Fetch Timeout setting in plugin settings from 2 seconds to 4 seconds, and re-save settings.

Hi,

It seems that the file uploads/stock-ticker-custom.css gets removed from the server for some reason. Why would that be?

I had the Timeout at 4 and I was plying around with it already
