Clayton James on "unable to download because of php files"

I am unable to download the newest version of wordpress because all of the files I am receiving are being formatted into php files. How do I fix this? This is also happening with Pro Photo files as well.

ok, so when i double click to download it, it opens the code. Am I doing something wrong? I've downloaded software programs before, never had this problem.

WordPress isn't an executable program that can install itself on your local pc. It needs to be installed in a server environment that meets the minimum requirements for it to run.

Where is your current wordpress site located? What's the domain name?

Installing locally means you have a computer with a web server and you are setting up WordPress to be used on it for testing/development.

WordPress is just a collection of files in a zipped folder. When you download the file you can then unzip it. After that you take those files and upload them to your web host.

Most web hosts have installers that will do this for you though if this seems too difficult. Then after the install is complete you can login to the backend and install your ProPhoto theme all without touching or editing any files.
