Ravi patel on "How to handle Authors leaving the company?"

So, here's our scenario...

We at King have techblog.king.com, a public-facing blog where all the Authors are employees all using @king.com email addresses. When an Author leaves the company their email is disabled across all our systems, so it won't work on the techblog (presumably?).

We still want the authors to be able to comment and answer questions under their blogposts, but we can't allow them to edit or create new blogposts.

What's the best way to handle this?

I'm thinking of editing their accounts to use their non-King email address and changing them to be Contributors. Does that work? Their posts will not be affected I think. It would require some playing around with the syntax of the Authors page, which uses the authorsavatar plugin, but that would be OK.

Any thoughts?
