I've recently received this notification from a number of Facebook apps setup for various websites I'm involved in.

{APPNAME} has been making recent API calls to Graph API v2.0, which will reach the end of the 2-year deprecation window on Monday, August 8, 2016. Please migrate all calls to v2.1 or higher in order to avoid potential broken experiences.

Can you confirm that it's OK to update to a more recent API version? And if so, what we should be looking at?

All documents I found for you guys talk about API OAuth ver. 2.0.

Please note that I opened a ticket also.

That makes three of us. I got the same message from FB as well.
