Since the latest update to WordPress 4.5.3 my website has been incredibly slow. I disabled all plug-ins and the problem disappeared and the site ran normally again. I then enabled plug-ins 1 by 1 until the problem retued and it is Slimstat causing the problem.
Can you help please?

can you please switch the tracker to Javascript mode in the settings and see if that helps? It might be a PHP memory limit issue.

Thanks for your reply Jason. I tried this but it didn't make any difference. Neither did changing from Browscap to Heuristic. In fact even if I clicked to tu the tracker off the site still runs at a crawl. The only thing the brings it back to normal is deactivating the plug-in.
It's been working perfectly for months until yesterday.
If that's okay with you, can you try updating to the new version, as soon as we release it? We updated the third-party library that handles user agent conversion. I suspect that will make a difference.

I am likely to be away at the weekend but if it's released before then I'd be happy to update asap.
We usually release our updates on Mondays. This coming Monday we have an update scheduled for release. Stay tuned.
I think I'll be on holiday then so it may be a few weeks before I get to try this. In the meantime I'll just leave the plug-in deactivated.
