The scrolling behaviour on desktop is quite ok, but on ipad it's really strange. When I swipe up and down sometimes the background is scrolling and sometimes the popup...

@formfarbefunktion - Strange. This would typically only be the case if you could touch both the overlay & what is behind it.

If that is occuring the most likely issue I can think of is how safari renders web pages on mobile. When you scroll on mobile the html freezes, because of that the overlay can be scrolled off screen (google "Issues with position fixed & scrolling on iOS").

When that happens if you were to move your fingers quickly and scroll again you may in fact touch the site behind the overlay (the overlay can end up partially offscreen due to the iOS Safari issue mentioned above).

Hope that helps, though I am not sure there is anything we can do about it as its a fundamental flaw in the way the browser renders.

In the meanwhile I found out that the input fields caused the trouble. Firing the touch event over those input fields made the content area behind the overlay scrolling.
