When I perform a search on my blog I am seeing a list of search results as expected, but the titles on some posts are much larger than they are on others. Any idea why?

Can we see this search on the actual site? An image really isn't of much use.
Here you go. Scroll down to see the title sizes begin to change.
It appears this has to do with post types, as galleries, quotes, images, etc, all have smaller titles while standard posts have larger titles. Is there a way to change this behavior so that all titles are treated the same?
You're referring to post formats, not post types. Just do a child theme and add a css styling for these post formats.
