I've been using my blog as a home page for years. Now I want to set a static home page and I have adjusted my settings in Reading, designating which page I want for a home page, and which page to use for blog posts. But nothing is changing! I also adjusted the menu to use the Home Page for "Home" and the Blog post page for "Blog".... but when you click home it still just displays the blog.

What is going wrong? I am on Headway version 3.7.17. I have no idea if there is some way that is set to not let me change home pages?

I have updated to the latest version of WP and updated all the plugins that are activated.

My site is http://holistichotsauce.com

Help!

Since that is a commercial theme, we ask that you please go to their official support channel, so you can get support from the people who know it best.

Forum volunteers are also not given access to commercial products, so they would not know why it is not working properly. Other community members who may have faced your issue might be able to help you but your best bet is your product's developer. Keep in mind we encourage you to use the official support venues, as it allows the developers to be aware of issues with their code and gives back to the community in a more robust way.

Thank you. I have contacted Headway.

I'm just not positive if the problem is with Headway or with WordPress. I know I set the settings right. But maybe it's a problem with the Menu settings. The static page that I have designated to be the front page/home page has no title. In the Menu I said to call it 'home' as I don't want it to say 'Untitled' on the Navigation Bar.

Is it possible there is something there that needs to be different?

Thanks

Try giving the front page a title, like Home, and re-save the front page settings at Settings -> Reading.

Well this gets weirder and weirder. I went back and edited the title of the page as suggested. Then when I click "View Page" it takes me to the blog page. I can't even view the page (except in preview mode).

Otherwise everything is the same. The 'Home' button still takes me to the blog.

Doesn't seem like Headway...?

I tested to see if it would let me use a different static page as the frint page, but no matter which page I designate for the front page, it still is the blog page.

Try re-saving your permalink structure at Settings/Permalinks in your admin panel. If WordPress cannot automatically edit the .htaccess file, it will provide manual instructions after saving.

I just tried that. But, I didn't want to change it from 'post name' as the structure.

I clicked the 'custom' box and resaved, and it went back to post name (which is the sample custom one). I saved that.

But it did not fix the problem and it did not give me any manual instructions for accesing the .htaccess file.

:-(

And when I look at 'Pages' in the dashboard, that page says 'Home - Front Page'.

But, as I said, when I click View Page it takes me to the front page that is the blog.

Does everything work as it should under the Twenty Sixteen theme? (it's safe to switch, check, then switch back)
