Hello, Not sure whether this falls under a "WordPress" question or not so I thought I'd ask, hopefully someone on here can help me:
I've installed WAMP on my PC running Win 7, along with WordPress 4.5.3 and created a new, empty database. All's good, the WAMP logo is green & I can see the "Hello world" page of my new, empty database.
My reason for doing this is I want to open up a database I created that I took a full backup of via cpanel before taking it down from my host server last year.
The original backup file's name is in the standard format "backup-time-date-databasename.tar.gz"
I have unzipped this using 7-zip to "backup-time-date-databasename.tar" which is about 68KB size.
I've also unzipped this to a folder database name where I can see the various files.
Previously, when I've restored .tar.gz files with my host when they've been on-line the host has had to do the restore since this isn't something which users can carry out via cpanel apparently.
My question, therefore, is; is there a way I can unzip the .tar file and then restore that into the empty data base on my local host server, by myphpadmin perhaps, or is there some workaround where I can amend the wp-config.php to point to the folder I've unzipped the above mentioned files into?
Alteatively, perhaps I can copy over the relevant files from the unzipped folder to the correct folder.
Any suggestions guys?
