tdelude on "[Plugin: Download Monitor] Download Link Loads To Homepage And Doesn't Download"

The download links keep redirecting to the homepage from the url.

http://domain.com/?load=http%3A%2F%2Fdomain.com%2Fdownload%2F1387%2F
doesn't work

while
domain.com/download/1374
works

Any ideas why? A problem with a theme? I upgraded wordpress to the current version. Tried both PHP 5.5 and 5.6. Uninstalled the plugin and started from scratch. I've been trying for hours.

I just tried version 1.8.1 as well. Same problem. I tried changing the Download Endpoint.
