No matter what content I add to a new page, images, text, etc. When I go to that page in preview all I see is header and footer from template.

which theme are you using?
please share link to your website so volunteers can see an example of the issue.
which plugins are installed?

I made my own theme.

In page editor I have only added - "This is a test" - text, but all I see is header and footer which I don't even want to see.

I only have the Akismet plugin which comes with WordPress installation.
