If nothing else, I can swap themes when I want to edit, but is there a less cumbersome way to circumvent whatever the problem was in the future?

In many cases this is usually because the MySQL server versions between the system your working on are too far apart and the import process can't properly run the SQL scripts.

It won't be possible to add a "Sign-up to our newsletter" checkbox to the "My Account" page without adding some custom code to your theme.

It introduces several complexities over the checkout version because we then need to keep track of whether someone is (still) subscribed so we can reflect the correct value (checked or unchecked) on the checkbox.

Our plugin does not provide such a feature, but it does provide you with the tools to get there. Here's a (very quick) example that gets you underway.

I hope that at least helps you in the right direction. We realise this is perhaps a little technical, but that's because we do not officially support this functionality yet. We may start offering it in future version of the plugin, but for now it has to be manually coded using the helper tools we provide.

If the crawl can be set to scan only one post every 5 or 10 seconds it won't impact the website performance at all even on a shared server.

If you have a first-time visitor just after you have emptied the whole cache, he will think that your site is just bad. He will leave with the impression that your site loads slow and won't access it again next time.

In my opinion, this option should be taken into consideration for the main reason stated above. And I doubt it can't be created in a way to not affect the performance.

Suggestion - Forum archives title:
To give your forum a more clean title, I'd suggest going to the SEO Settings Page. Within the Title Settings metabox, you can find "Prefixes" (third tab).
Select the option within there, so your title will change, as per example below:

From: Archivos: Foros | GamElegant
To: Foros | GamElegant

Resolution - Incorrect title on topics:
About the topics having the incorrect title, I believe your theme is built around bbPress? It's rather beautiful :). I unfortunately believe this is the cause for that the topics take their root forum's name as the title.

To resolve this, I believe this snippet should help:
