Is it possible to trigger the lightbox effect on single images? (Without using Carousel as you cannot align the image)

No, I'm afraid that's not possible. Carousel is only triggered for galleries, so when you insert a single image into one of your posts, the Carousel libraries and the meta data needed to display the Carousel view aren't added to your image.

This feature was suggested by a few other Jetpack users in the past, so we'll definitely consider adding the option if this request becomes popular.
