gspotrecords on "[Plugin: Lightweight Social Icons] Icons showing in foreign characters?"

I installed your plugin some months ago, no problem so far till a couple of weeks ago when we see that the icons don't load the social network image but foreign characters, like Japanese or sth. We can't relate this behavior to any specific update.

I just installed this plugin, and I'm getting the same thing - it's not Japanese, it appears to be ASCII or some other thing indicating that the fonts are not being loaded.

Further research:
On a Mac running 10.10.5:
NO social icons show up on Firefox 47.0.1 (no boxes, no nothing)
On Safari, Chrome they are blank colored boxes

On a Mac running 10.9.5:

Firefox 47.0 - Colored rectangles with rectangular boxes containing ASCII characters.
Safari 9.1.1 - Colored solid rectangles
