Hi again Zoe,
A few things after looking into your issue again:

1) I think you have way too many images loaded on the page. There are about 200 thumbs on the page, which means that there are 200 requests to the server. A single client can only request a certain number of parallel requests to the server, and the rest are queued. This means that when you click on an image to load in the lightbox, the browser is still trying to load the 200 thumbs. This then queues the larger image and only after all the thumbs have finished loading does it load the lightbox image. This has got nothing to do with the foogallery or foobox plugin, but is how browsers load the page assets.

2) I loaded your gallery page, and noticed 201 404 errors on your images. The 404 errors looked like http://auroreschotteypicavet.com/wp-content/uploads/cache/2016/06/pict-010-low-def/[email protected] so it seems there is some plugin that is adding a 2x to your images. This could be because I am using a retina display, but I am not 100% sure what is causing these 404's.

I recommend you make the following changes:

1) Show a single smaller gallery with thumbs for portraits, shootings, films, theatres, music. These thumbs can have a custom url that points to child pages with those separate galleries or albums. This will reduce the number of thumbs on each page, which in tu will reduce the number of requests to the server. Does this make sense? And do you think you can make this type of change?
