To be honest, I don't see how any of this can result in a bad rating for the plugin. There are numerous reasons that it's open source and that it's listed here. First, if someone has enough knowledge, the plugin can be forked and easily adapted to work on a different hosting environment. There aren't that many custom things that need to be changed on the hosting site anyway. Next, having it here, makes it very easy for us to update it and for users to get those updates on time when new features, improvements and bug fixes are introduced.

It's normal to have custom plugin or configuration or something when you're on a managed WordPress host. Acutally, SiteGround has probably the less intrusive way to link your site to the provided services. Most of the companies add settings directly to the wp-config.php file. Needless to say after you migrate your site all you get is a white screen. On the other hand, the SG CachePress plugin will simply show you a notice that it's not working which is easly noticeable and will not break your site.
