Watch investment - a way to save money from inflation?

I recently found out that my friend is buying watches as an investment. Basically it's a Rolex. According to him, this is a more stable investment of money than stocks of technology companies and cryptocurrency. Anyone doing something like this? If yes, what is the best time to invest?
